Nasty Beatmakers, consisting of brothers DJ Nasty, and LVM have made quite a name for themselves! Amongst all their accolades, they brought back a Grammy plaque back to Orlando! Get to know the Nasty Beatmakers:
PCM: Were you born in Cuba or the U.S.?
DJ Nasty: Cuba. We came to the U.S. in 1978. Our father was in the navy and wanted a change in scenery.
PCM: Who is the little brother?
DJ Nasty: I Am
PCM: Are you married or single?
Both: in a relationship
PCM: Any kids?
DJ Nasty: I have a 4 year old.
LVM: I have a 7 year old boy.
PCM: When was your first production?
DJ Nasty: I did a record on my own for Krayzie Bone called “Thug Love.” It was done on an MPC 60, but the real official record that The Nasty Beatmakers did was for Fat Joe –on the Jealous Ones Envy album called ‘Wildlife’ feat Xzibit – that was our first major breakthrough
PCM: How did you get hooked up with that?
DJ Nasty: We knew Fat Joe for a minute. DJ Khaled started bonding with Joe in Miami and I sent Khaled a beat to play for Joe and it was on and poppin’ since then.
PCM: If you had to give credit to one person for where you’re at now who would it be?
DJ Nasty: GOD! And myself for hard work and dedication .
PCM: What has been your biggest accomplishment to date?
DJ Nasty: The Grammy. Winning the Grammy – I don’t think it gets any bigger than that! (LVM agrees)
PCM: If you could go back in time what is one thing that you would have done different?
DJ Nasty: Be more vocal! I’m kind of a laid back quiet dude.
PCM: What advice would you give to up and coming producers and artists?
LVM: Establish relationships and keep them. If you meet somebody and it didn’t pan out right there, it may later, so be sure not to burn any bridges.
DJ Nasty: Be into your craft and try to be original. Do something that stands out, go hard and keep in tune with what’s out there, be original.
PCM: What’s the first thing you look for when an artist gives you a CD?
DJ Nasty: His flow, his originality, its got to sound good, if it doesn’t sound right it’s a bad impression.
PCM: What is in your CD deck in your car?
DJ Nasty: Snoop Dogg’s 1st album, and Kane West’ new album.
LVM: Kanye, and the the Ludacris album that got us the Grammy, I like to always remind myself of that.
PCM: Who are your 3 favorite artists in the game right now?
DJ Nasty: T.I., Ludacris, & Lil Wayne.
LVM: Ludacris, Lil Wayne and Jay-Z
PCM: DO you think that Orlando will ever be seen as a music Mecca like Georgia and now Miami?
DJ Nasty: Yeah I think it will get there eventually. There’s alt of talent out here but we all got to bond together – we can’t be so separated.
PCM: Who do you think are the top 5 power players in Orlando right now?
DJ Nasty: – The Runners, Nasty Beatmakers, Prostyle, Dawgmann, & Frontline promotions.
PCM: What is the biggest misconception that people have about you?
DJ Nasty: A lot of people like just as of the last 2 years think that I don’t give them a fair shot of getting them radio play or getting them out here. I don’t want people to think that I’m the only outlet. If you’re an artist- go hard! I always use Treal as an example because they are the last group out of Orlando who started on the streets and just got signed. They started at the club and then the radio and became a big huge smash
PCM: Do you think vinyl is still important?
DJ Nasty: I hate to answer that because I grew up on vinyl but the game has changed! I get all my new music on CD’s and mp3s. Serrato changed the game!
PCM: What do you think is the best digital service to get yourself exposure on the net?
DJ Nasty: Digiwaxx, and new music server
PCM: Should we be surprised if we hear about you in Superhead’s next book?
DJ Nasty: (laughs) – Na -I don’t even get down like that.
LVM: Na
PCM: What did you have for breakfast today?
DJ Nasty: I never eat breakfast
LVM: Toast w cinnamon sugar, remember that?
PCM: What’s your favorite restaurant in Orlando?
DJ Nasty: Kres
LVM: Kobe
PCM: What’s your favorite drink?
DJ Nasty: Mojito – it’s a Cuban drink, its real island, real refreshing – Fat Joe put me on to it
LVM: I love beer, any type!
PCM: If you were to describe yourself in one word what would it be?
DJ Nasty: Real
LVM: Ghost
PCM: What’s the best way for someone to contact you?

PCM: Any last words/ or shout outs you’d like to leave us with?

Shout outs to The Runners, and Khaled! – We got the game on smash right now! It’s looking real good and you can thank Orlando for it, believe that!
