Slim Goodye’s “Recession Proof” ‘

Slim Goodye……. Wus Happenin?
Whats good fam. Long time no see.

Tell us about your new project  Recession Proof……
Recession Proof is my latest mixtape hosted by Greg G. Its going to give you a better understanding of who I am as an artist. Im from up top but Ive been in the south, so you’ll get my up top swag on down south beats. It will also show you my versatility from  tracks for the streets, clubs, and for the ladies
.

What’s your favorite track on there and why?
I would have to say “Better Days”, because its something that everybody can relate to no matter where they are in life. The song touches on coming up out of the stuggle and no matter what, everyone can relate to that.

RECESSION PROOF is hosted by DJ Gregg G, how did you two meet?
We met in the club through a mutual friend. We were both from up top so we clicked right off the back.  He put me on his mixtape and we’ve been rockin ever since. He’s like a brotha to me. Its not just music, Greg G and I go out of town together, we call and check up on each other. Its not just music with us.  It makes it a lot easier music wise. The vibe it there. If he dosnt like something hes gonna let me know.

How long have you been doing music?
Ive always played around with it but I’ve only started taking it seriously the last 7 years. Before that I used to just freestyle with my boys one the block. Up top it used to be too cold outside so we used to freestyle in the hallways,  buggin’ out. They always used to tell me that my flow was slick, I was slick talker. They told me back then that I needed to do this. Now I’m here.

What other projects have you worked on ?
I’ve had 6 mixtapes before this one. Recession Proof is my 7th. Ive also worked on “1000 grams” with DJ Khaled. I have three singles out right now, “Lady Gaga” “Chinese Food” and “I be gettin money”. Im also working on my album right now.

Any last words ?Tell us a little about how you got started and what got you into recording…….
Greg G and I were riding in the car one day and a beat came on. I started freestylin’ and Greg was like im gonna put your freestyle on my next mixtape, and the rest is history. The first time I ever recorded was at his crib. After I dropped that verse on his mixtape people wanted to know “who is Slim Goodye”. So we came with my first mixtape “the young mobster” and I solidified my spot in Orlando with that mixtape. Big Up to Greg G!!! He’s been holding me down since day 1.

How long have you been in Orlando and how have you seen it change since moving from _____________?
Ive been in Orlando for seven years. Theres a lot more artist trying to make it now since I first got here. There’s a lot more unity among the DJ’s and artist and a lot more haters. Musically its changed for the better for me personally because I feel as though im the best lyricist  in Orlando hands down and I live this shit.

What would you say is one the best ways to stay relevant in today’s music scene?
Keep putting out material and staying true to yourself. Hard work pays off.

What’s next from Slim Goodye?
A DEAL NIGGA!
