Member of the Shadyville DJ’s, The core DJ’s, and part of the 102 Jamz dream team, DJ Chino aka The Turntable dragon used to be a break-dancer back in the day. Practically living in the clubs, he saw how the DJ had total control of the crowd and wanted to do the same. 15 Years later, he is now one of the most well known DJ’s in Orlando as well as the producer for The Steve Harvey morning Show on 102 Jamz. He remembers a major breakthrough moment being when he got hired as a mixer for the station without even ever applying. Born in the Phillipines, DJ Chino moved to Hawaii then California and for ‘some odd reason, ended up in Orlando.
What’s been the best memory you’ve had DJ’ing? I had the chance to DJ for 50 CENT’S first concert in Orlando. At that time, he was the biggest thing in the industry. I also had the opportunity to DJ for 10,000 people in the Amway Arena.
Who are your favorite DJ’s of all time? DJ Q Bert & Kid Capri
How do you prepare for a club night? I take a good nap and a can of Red Bull, everything else is natural.
What are some ideas that you have to unite the city and make Orlando the next MIA/ATL? I’ve always been involved in promoting events that showcase local talent and I’ve helped local rappers and R&B singers. Orlando has to back up their own, that’s what the city lacks. I think we all should support good talent that comes out of Orlando.
Where are you currently spinning at? 1st Tue. of the month at Dragon Room, 1st Wed. of the month at Tabu, Fri. nights at Dragon Room, Sat. nights at Element and Sun. nights at Firestone.
