Who is GQ? GQ is I, a man dedicated to progression of self and success.
How did you get your name? It was given to me by a co-worker. They admired my style and the quality I displayed in my work. It stands for Genuine Quality
How did you become a photographer? I started off as a model agent and nightclub promoter in NYC. I would go to photo shoots with my promotional models. While I was there, I’d direct their shoots. One day my mentor put a camera in my hand and wanted to see how I shot since I gave good direction. My mentor was impressed and so were the models and they convinced me to start that new venture.
What was the first event you ever promoted? My 21st Birthday Bash, we called it Attractions *Tasty Edition* at Mad28.
How’d you start promoting events? I started as the young dude handing out flyers and picking up crates for DJ Legend Soundz of Ikonz Ent. Picking up the crates helped me get in the club since I was too young to get in.
What’s the biggest event you’ve ever done? The Bliss Edition of Attractions at Mad28. That event was the debut of GQ’s Wet Dream Campaign. My team and I decided to give NYC something they’d never seen before. We decided to have the models treat all our guests as V.I.P’s for the night. My models came in and fed the guests strawberries and whipped cream. Also, they gave them massages. It was a very sexy event.
What’s the biggest event you’ve done in Florida and How long have you been here? I’ve now been in Florida for a year and a half.ÜThe biggest event I’ve done so far was the GQutie Fashion Show “Unzipped Edition” and after party at Tabu nightclub. This show was broadcasted on Street Jams on Brighthouse Networks. It was also one of my most talked about events on myspace. In addition, it was my debut in Orlando. The room was filled with magazine editors, photographers, fashion designers, make up artists and radio personalities. I’d say it was a good look for my first appearance.
What made you move to FL? I actually moved from NYC to get away from the promotional lifestyle. I believe everyone has a calling and promotions is mine. I couldn’t stay away, so I decided to transfer my company to Florida, although I’m still conducting business in NYC.
What would you say is your goal as a promoter? My goal is to take GQInvites to another level in promotions. I want my company to expand beyond the boundaries of two states. I’d like to take my promotional company nationally, embracing all aspects of fashion and entertainment.
What sort of things do you do to get more clients? I offer special discounted rates on my services and advertise them.
What’s the biggest obstacle you’ve had to overcome as an entrepreneur? The biggest obstacle is that I’m so young. A lot of old heads that been in this game for a while don’t like the fact that I’ve come so far in such a short time. However, I appreciate all my blessings and that’s I strive to continue. It’s hard to earn that respect when your young, but like I always say, let your work speak for you.
Is there anyone you’d like to shout out? My lady Mrs. Elle Skye of Eccentric Creationz,Ümy mother and sister, my publicist Jovaughn, my staff of GQInvites and everyone that has every supported a GQInvites event and has contributed to it’s success.
If you could define yourself in one word, what would it be? Trendsetter
What would be the best way for someone to contact you? For anyone that would like to contact me, feel free to send me an email at [email protected] or hit me up on myspace.com at www.myspace.com/gqinvites
