Big Earl grew up in the notorious Bronx River Projects in an early time when Hip Hop had not yet accepted Latinos as one of their own. “We struggled to fit in,” says Big Earl of himself and DJ Charlie Chase who was one of the first Hip Hop DJ’s who was also Latin. Big Earl grew up writing graffiti, spinning on cardboards, and would later in 2002 go on to earning an award from the Zulu Nation for 20 years of dedication to Hip Hop. Promoter, Hip Hop historian, journalist, graffiti legend, artist manager, marketing genius, and overall hustler, Big Earl has definitely been keeping himself busy. He is currently using the help of DJ Nasty, DJ Prostyle, DJ Khaled, and Rick Ross to promote a new clothing company called Blac Label and also promoting for a new company called Imperial Junkie, who are the same people that brought you RP55, Azzure, and Indigo Red. Working with Big Pun, who was also a good friend of his and seeing him be the only solo Latin hip hop artist to go platinum is one of the things he’s most proud of, besides his family. As a promoter, Big Earl books shows all over the US and Europe and recommends people that want to have someone reliable and cost efficient to handle all the legwork of booking artists to contact him directly at www.bigearlpromo.com or myspace.com/bigearlpromo. “You don’t want to just give 10-20k to a stranger,” says Earl, who is training a younger generation how to hustle so e can spend more time behind he desk and at home with his wife and kids instead of constantly on the road.
