About D.I.A.

In the beginning, on March 18, 1981, God created Jay. As a young man, Jay always knew he was destined for greatness. The youngest of two kids growing up in Hampton, Va he was attracted to the music industry. Most young black males chose the path of sports, or things that landed them in prison. Jay tried out for basketball in high school and discovered that it wasn’t for him. Though some would assume, him being 6’4 and all, that basketball would be the only way out. But then again, you know what they say about ‘ass-u-ming’. After finishing high school, Otis Murphy Thomas aka ‘JR’, Jay, decides to join the Marines for a couple of years. Now the Marines, wasn’t really a place for an up-and-coming artist, but you gotta do what ya gotta do! After a couple of years of hardcore unhappiness, Jay decides that he could give rap a try. At first, Jay wasn’t really all that serious about rap. He kind of treated it like a hobby, while admiring great rappers like Tupac and Jay-Z. Unlike a lot of rappers with the hustle, ghetto story, Jay simply decided that he was going to do something truly great with rap. At the tender age of 25, after experiencing all the many trials and tribulations of life, rap seemed like an escape from everything. To this day, Jay has done some mix tapes and recorded many songs. Now, all we do is sit back, relax, and wait for the jack-of-all trades to play his next card. (just wanted to say thanks for the bio Shante
