” The greatest feeling of accomplishment I get is when I’m at the mall or doing groceries or walking around downtown and somebody stops me and says ‘aren’t you Killah Kelz?’ or ‘omg I heard your music on myspace’… (or wherever) best feeling in the world.. better than sex”

Where can we hear your stuff?: My reverbnation is under major construction –> www.reverbnation.com/killahkelz
But you can also check me out on militantclic.com

How did you get that name?: Well Kelz is short for my real name, ‘Kelly’ and in HS everyone called me Killah Kelz, so I kept it cz it fit me well anyway. But it will be changed probably by the end of this year, if not sooner, (*GASP!* lol) I already know what I want it changed to, just gotta work on some rights and legal information, so no, I can’t tell you yet. lol
What has been your biggest accomplishment?: People will sit and tell me I’ve accomplished so much, but I don’t feel like I’ve accomplished anything. lol, but I’ll give you the list people pat me on the back about for some reason. Um… I was nominated for something called the Orlando Hip Hop Awards 3 times in a row for Best Female Artist, I’ve opened up for Plies twice, I’ve had an article published on the Orlando Weekly newspaper… (That’s something to be excited about! I actually have the article taped up to my wall. lol!) and I’m a well known local artist.. yapii! lol but honestly, the greatest feeling of accomplishment I get is when I’m at the mall or doing groceries or walking around downtown and somebody stops me and says ‘aren’t you killah kelz?’ or ‘omg I heard your music on myspace’… (or wherever) best feeling in the world.. better than sex.
What has been your most difficult challenge?: I think the most difficult challenge for me, as well as any artist, is to make it independently. It’s hard, especially when we don’t have big time investors or drug money helping to push our brand and music.
What makes you different?: Well first of all, no body sounds like me. Being a female rapper, people always have the urge to make lazy comparisons like, ‘oh she sounds like foxy brown, chyna whyte’ ect. but in reality I don’t. Not taking anything away from either of those women because I grew up listening to them, but I totally have my own sound. Secondly, no one looks or dresses like me either.
What projects are you working on?: I don’t really like telling people what I’m working on, I just like working on it. lol, but I am working on something big with RUFF and the warheadz… yea the warheadz. lol… lets just say its something like ‘Shottas’ meets Kanye West’s ‘Runaway’ film. OOOOOOHHH BIH!!!!

Where are you from originally? : Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
How Long have you been making music? : I’ve been doing music since forth grade when I learned to play the Flute. lmao, and I’ve been taking my rap career seriously since ’06
What artists inspire you? : My life experiences. I think I write the best music when I’m going through something in my life. It’s like when something happens to me, a break up, a loss, lyrics just pour out of me so much faster, with so much more feeling, than when I’m sitting by my computer trying to figure out how to come on the track.
How would you define your style of music? : Every female emcee has brought something to the game with their style of music and brand. Lauryn Hill brought education, Lil Kim brought Sluttery, Foxy Brown brought gangsta…. I’m bringing independence.
What teams are you affiliated with? : I don’t play sports.
Na lol let me see.. um…
Militant Clic, Crack Gang, Street Smart, and Warheadz,
Who are some artists that you have worked with? : As far as features I’ve worked with S.K.Y, Dope Kiddie, Remedy, Emerald, Meez Montana, Heavy, and Chi Money. I know I’m missing some people, but that’s all I can remember. lol
Who would you like to collab with? : Brian Pumper…… No I’m just kidding, lmao. But I’d love to work with, Miss Erykah Badu, Sergio Mendes, Lupe Fiasco, Neyo, Andre 3000, and Lauryn Hill.
Where do you see the future of music? : I see the future of mainstream music as something that promotes the dumbing down of society. I see it as a way to get our youth to think its cool to sell and do drugs, to tattoo weird things on their faces, which will prevent them from getting a good job and being successful, I see it as a way to get kids more confused about life, about their sexual preferences, by branding homosexuality as a trend, not as feelings they were born with and can’t control, I see the future of mainstream music as doing more harm than good, world wide.
I do however think that more indie music would be appreciated because of the different kind of message it’ll speak in comparison to the mainstream, not all, but some. It’ll almost be a relief for people who once enjoyed good music.
Where do you see yourself in 1 year? : I’m going to be realistic, right here in Orlando. Sure I’ll be traveling to different cities promoting my brand, but I know a grammy award doesn’t happen overnight.
Describe yourself in one sentence. : I’m that comfortable pillow you sleep on every night.
Any shout outs? : what up rebel black??? lol
One thing the world should know about you: not down with the Illuminati. hahahahaaa
