Michael Barber

Where can we hear your stuff?

Online, over 10,000 units moved on Itunes and Amazon alone, and my download game is crazy. Frostwire hosted one of my albums.

How did you get that name?

It is my government name. No hiding behind names.

What has been your biggest accomplishment?

Traveling the country touring and selling so many units online. I became an internet star very quickly. Also sealing my deal with Universal Records.

What has been your most difficult challenge?

Overcoming my drug abuse.

What makes you different?

I do me. I represent the normal, average person. I don’t have to be flashy or special, I just do me, and people seem to relate. I can relate to the 9-5 people, the assembly line people, the people in AA, as well as the drug addicts.

What projects are you working on?

The Purple Aces Project is done, it was a trending topic on twitter last week. My Universal debut, Shotguns and Canned Goods is done and should be out this year, the lead single comes out featuring Grammy Nominated Group, Nappy Roots. But first The Purple Aces Project with Dj Fade. It isn’t a mix tape, it is an album, all original material. I don’t really use other peoples beats.

Where are you from originally?

Southern Indiana. I rep Indiana like Jay reps Brooklyn. I represent those people. I lived in Louisville, Kentucky for a while, same type of people, different state. They ride for me, I ride for them.

How Long have you been making music?

I have been a writer since I was very young. I am a song writer. I am an artist, I draw attention.

What artists inspire you?  Life.

How would you define your style of music?

I am the creation of Frank Sinatra having a baby with Classic Rock and that baby being raised on Hip Hop

What teams are you affiliated with?

Right now ECP Music Group, the first indie label with Worldwide and Best Buy distribution. I am also signed to Universal Records via Jonathan Hay’s Umbrella Label

Who are some artists that you have worked with?

I have been in the studio with some of the most talented and famous pop artists and musicians of all time, Akon, Nas, Nappy Roots, The Wu Tang Clan, to name a few. I have worked in the studio or on marketing campaigns for tons and tons of great artists. I just sold some beats to OJ da Juiceman so look out for those.

Who would you like to collab with?

Jimi Hendrixx

Where do you see the future of music?

I am the future. The major labels know that, it is an indie labels field day and ECP Music Group is on the cutting edge of that.

Where do you see yourself in 1 year?

Still making music every day in my studio. I hope to expand into the movies and now I am scoring a Hillary Duff movie, so things are really looking up for me, in a year, my bank account will probably grow.

Describe yourself in one sentence:  The Truth with no strings or gimmicks.

Any shout outs?

DJ Fade, Ariel, Kelsey Boyd, ECP Music Group, Evansville, Nappy Roots, oh yeah cop that new Nappy Roots album!

Last Words:  Here to stay, and I don’t bite my tongue.
