Monifa is a professional belly dancer based in the San Francisco Bay Area. She began dancing at an early age, beginning with ballet and moving on to tap, jazz, and West African dancing. At 14, she finally pursued a long-time interest in belly dancing. Monifa is trained in Classical Egyptian cabaret and North African folkloric dance. She has entertained audiences ranging from private parties to corporate events and festivals. Monifa has also performed in Long Beach (CA), Hollywood (CA), Las Vegas (NV), and London (England).
Beginning only 4 years ago, Monifa used her experience as a performer to begin a career as model. Her specialties include portraiture, fine art, and artistic modeling–but she doesn’t believe in limiting herself. A lover of art, fashion, and music, Monifa enjoys playing at industry standards of beauty.

Major Turn On: I have to admit, I’m a bit of a dork. I love poetry. So, to have a man read some beautiful poetry to me would make me melt.

Describe A Perfect Date: Finding an immediate connection through conversation–when you really don’t have to ‘go’ someplace especially fancy. Just as long as there’s good, hometown food and a nice bottle of wine.
When did you decide you wanted to get into modeling? I’m a dancer by nature. Performing became a gateway into modeling, which I began doing almost 4 years ago. When I dance, my confidence excels and it’s a time when I’m most comfortable with myself. So, being a model is no different–it’s just too bad I didn’t start sooner!
What are some of your short term and long term goals? For my short term goals, as in the next year or so, I’d like to travel and perform a bit more extensively. I also have a few writing projects in the works–a collection of memoir essays called ‘Love Toast,’ as well as a poetry collection.
As for my long term goals, I will continue to perform, model, and write. I will also be continuing my educational career by pursuing a Master’s Degree in Literature.
