PCM interviews Skye, an Orlando Native, who has been singing and writing her style of R&B for many years. While claiming her influences to be artist such as Mary J. Blige and Faith Evans, Skye has her own sound to contribute to the world of contemporary music.
PCM- Thank You for opening up to us Ms. Skye. So, for people who don’t know who you are, tell us a little bit about yourself.
Skye- I’m a young woman trying to tell her story through music. I’m currently working on an independent project “Livin the Skye Life”. I’ve been blessed to work with some of Orlando’s finest talent, such as Mr. J and Passion of Wind Drum Productions, Rican Havoc of Nebula Productions, Cohiba of Da Reign Productions, Stix at Wildlife Productions, and Fidel Cashflow of Pure Cash Entertainment.
PCM- Is it true that if an artist needs a tight hook, you’re the one to go to?
Skye- Ha Ha, it’s funny you should say that! For a while there was talk that I was only good for singing hooks or Intros to Mixtapes. All I could do was take the haterism and turn it in to constructive criticism. At one point I told myself “No more Hooks”…but then a few months later, I put together a CD of all of my favorite songs where I sang the hook…and called it “SKYE HOOKS…The Album” just to show that their negativity doesn’t phase me…I’m going to do what I want to do regardless. If one of my piers needs a fly hook, I’m coming through for them.
PCM- So when is Skye going to do her own thing?
Skye- It’s not like I don’t have my own joints already. I have a lot of songs already written and I’m in the studio bringing them to life… the Highs and Lows of Life the way I’ve seen it… I want people to truly experience what I have to say…
PCM- So what you’re saying is that your music is a reflection of your personal life?
Skye- Most definitely. I have been through IT ALL! Let me tell you, It has been no walk in the park! But walks in the park are boring, I prefer roller coaster rides!! My goal is to take my listeners on that ride with me, and me with them….
PCM- What do you feel you can contribute to the Music Industry?
Skye- The Truth. How a woman really feels. Uncensored. No fake images to portray, No Fronts. To me, music should inspire. There’s room for all types of music…But I want to create music that’s timeless. Love and passion are more beautiful than full lips and long hair and a big booty…
PCM- You sound like you have a lot to say. It’s obvious that your name is Skye because of your beautiful blue eyes, but I’m curious to know where you get your exotic looks from.
Skye- You can say I am a product of the melting pot! A poster child for world peace!! Well, My mother is Syrian- Lebanese and French, my father is Native American, German, and Irish. Maybe that’s why no one can ever figure it out. I’m like a fine sauce that’s full of flavor, but you can’t guess what’s in the recipe…
