How did you get that name? All my friends use to laugh at me cause no matter what they asked me I always gave them the truth wit everything so that’s where the Tru part came from, and Ace, well that’s my lil rapper swag wit everything, I feel like I’m the ace in the hole wit stuff so TRU-ACE came about. Yea, they call me Tru-Ace because it’s like that you know. I’m not claiming to be anyone other than who I am, or from any place other than where I came – there’s already too many pretenders in the game and that’s TRU…
What has been your biggest accomplishment? The biggest accomplishment right now is just being able to pursue my dream. You can’t achieve it if you don’t go after it, so I’m reaching fro the stars you know.
What has been your most difficult challenge? Just getting on stage and exposing yourself to the public is a challenge. There’s no success without failure, so the real challenge is working through the failure and learning all you can so you can enjoy achieve success….
What makes you different? ‘Mass appeal’ is what makes me different. I been asked to sign autographs by everybody from lil kids who could barely speak to adults old enough to be my grand parents. My performance venues and fan base is as diversified as the population. There’s no boundaries!
What projects are you working on? My main focus is working with my producers to keep the heat on the tracks. Every song has gotta be fire – single potential only. I’m just out there making some noise so when the record companies hit me up and send the paper for me to sign…I’ll be ready.
Where are you from originally? Yea, my Pops retired from the military, he was in the Air Force. So we moved around a lot. I grew up on the West Coast, East Coast and Mid West. I was born in Moreno Valley CA.
How Long have you been making music? Music has been my dream for as far back as I can remember. As far as rapping is concern, I just started hitting the studio and taking it serious about two years ago.
What artists inspire you? I would say my influences are Skee-Lo, Kanye West, Ludacris, Busta Rhymes, P. Diddy and Jay-Z . I kinda consider myself a combination of all the above. Skee-Lo made you dance, no foul language or negative vibes…that’s the way I deliver my music. Kanye West, his swagger is ridiculous. Ludacris got some mad lyrics and his flow is crazy. Busta Rhymes is just entertaining when he comes on stage, he takes you for a ride, and that’s my goal every time I hit the stage. P. Diddy and Jay-Z are not only great artist, but I wanna follow their business example, because they laid the road map for how it should be done.
How would you define your style of music? Mass appeal. No boundries. NO PROFANITY…… The region don’t matter, the coast don’t matter. It’s just the beat and the flow. You can’t tie my tracks to a particular location. If I feel it, I go with it. As long as the end result got some heat on it, I’m straight.
What teams are you affiliated with? I’m surrounded by friends and family, they got my back. Right now it’s all about the music, the swag and fans.
Who are some artists that you have worked with? It’s all on the independent tip right now making TRU-ACE a household name. The collabs will happen, that’ll come later.
Who would you like to collab with? I’m not doing any collabs at the moment, but I’m open to any situation that’s gonna enhance the project.
Where do you see the future of music? The future of music is as diversified as the artist. The internet changed the game, major labels don’t control it any more’s a big up for independent artist.
Where do you see yourself in 1 year? I see myself on tour promoting my album and taking the stage at the Grammy and Bet Awards.
